Chronological listing?
While the default listing of messages threads is great, everyone once in a while I like to see messages listed in chronological order.
With only threaded listings, old threads that fall off the first page are virtually guaranteed of dying.

I think what he's saying is...
... as responses are made to existing threads, they become in essence "new" again. So if someone responds to a thread from 2-19-2000 today, it would be moved to the top of the forum as if the original were just posted. This keeps threads alive and is common on other forums (I think UBB has this feature).
