Didn't old pictureposter auto-resize?
Seems like a whole rash of 30KB, 50KB, 250KB!!! sig pics...lately. Us poor low-bandwidth folks are getting clobberred.
Is there a way to re-instate this behavior and/or enforce a limit on sig pic size?

Yes and no
Pictures to the old picture poster did get automatically resized, but by hand. Neil did most of that.
The new one does it automatically. However, it tries to keep the image quality as good as possible. We're working on a solution for large signature pics

Automatically by hand...
I see! Sig pic might be alleviated with education too - although IMHO sig pics should be small (160x120 type small) and space efficient (<=16KB).
I'm guess I'm just whining, but it seems like the s/n ratio is going down all the time, and big 30-50KB and/or 640x480 sig pics in 3 line text messages just get my goat
