...and then reload the page, that thread always shows as a thread with new responses. That gets a little bothersome when my post is the only new one. Can that be changed so that only other people's responses to a tracked thread "highlight" it and bring it to the top of the page?

The problem is that to autoupdate is subject to race conditions with the scheme we use. I'm going to be redesigning the thread tracking internally to fix some of the problems, but for now, you'll need to read your own post, or click up.
