Default Removing the body side molding...is there an easier way, or..

is the bently manual acurate. This looks to be a major pita. I just cant envision scraping the glue off the body panel without destroying the finish 'carefully'. Also I assume the only place to get replacement molding is from the dealer? Costly? I have some rust underneath one of the moldings I want to get after. thanx! 85 coupe

Default Those moldings suck

Which is why they are still stuck to the sides of mine.
You can use some kind of piano-type wire (best on a hot day) to run behind the molding and sort of cut it off the car. You will have lots of residue to clean up. 3M makes an 'adhesive remover' which works well but you have to keep putting more on as it dries quickly. Long process. Why not just remove the one where your rust issue is and then stick it back on after repair? And yes, if you need new ones, only place to get them is Audi.
