I've had decent luck with the "Lou's Custom Exhaust" in Reading.

Default ugh - be careful of advice on the forum...

nothing against anyone, but i remember someone recommending Lou's Custom Exhaust in reading, and they were really nice people, but they were REALLY incompetent when I went there ...

All I needed as a simple retapping of O2 sensor hole... the tech didnt know how to use a tap, ended up cross threading the hole ... he ended up needing to weld up the hole and drill a new bung. well he just cuts a hole and realizes the O2 sensor is too long to fit, he cuts the cat off so he can rotate it to fit ... puts in the new bung, installs the O2 sensor and rewelds everything ... the reweld was bad because i had an exhaust leak ... and the placement of the o2 sensor was bad because over bumps it bangs on my undercarriage ...

INCOMPETENCE

i went back and told them what was going on immediately once i experienced it (~30mins after i left) and they seemed so offended i questioned their work ... which OBVIOUSLY was questionable.

for every competent person somewhere, there are at least 5 incompetent people ... so make sure you talk with the guy who knows what he is doing

Default I've had good luck there, and seen some outstanding work

I too had a bung welded to my downpipe and it took 5 minutes and came out great. I also had some tips welded on, and some exhaust hangers moved around. Again, fine job.

While I was waiting for the tip job, I was watching no less than 4 guys building an exhaust from scratch for a restored Shelby 500 Mustang. It was beautiful.

I'm sure you can ask for an experienced guy to do the work for you. You can also poke around under your car, and watch the guy as he's doing the work for you. I don't know how many places let you do that these days with liability issues and all.

Default yea i was poking around while he was working, thats how i knew he was incompetent

but its a tough situation, you dont want to tell him how to do his job, id come across being the backseat fabber.

i wish i had a tap so i could do it myself. its not that hard to tap threads. the guy just rushed it.

i have heard great reviews of lou's custom exhaust from this same forum which is why i went. looks like i had bad luck in getting the incompetent guy. they were really slow that day and all the older guys were chillin in the office
