Default 2018 SQ5 winter wheels/tires

I am the proud new owner of my first Audi - a 2018 SQ5. It has the optional 21 inch wheels, so I am already anticipating that I will want a set of winter wheels/tires. It looks like the only Audi recommended set is a 19X7 OEM wheel with 235/55R19 tires. And it looks like they are $3200. I'd like to be a little more economical. At tire rack they give a fair number of choices, although all the wheels they show are 8-8.5 inches wide. I just need to know how you go about knowing what will actually work as a winter wheel/tire for that "other" 6 months of the year we have here in Wisconsin.

Hello Rsorensen,

I'm in the same situation something to consider the set from Tire rack would not have the TPMS. So you would have to get the tires not mounted then order TPMS then have a place mount install and program TPMS. not sure if any one other then a dealer can do this locally for a 2018 car. I hope i am wrong as I'm also looking for a "economical" way and not a lot of sets on used sale around me

The 2018 Q5/SQ5 doesn't have wheel installed TPMS sensors. They use the ABS system to monitor TP. Therefore extra sets of wheels are more easily done. My concern is more about what wheels can be used in a 19 inch size, as that is what I'd like for winter.

I will do that. Please do the same.
For others that might have knowledge on this, I mention the following. I see a lot of 19" OEM wheels on ebay, for instance, that are described as fitting the 2018 Audi. When I ask the seller (usually a large wheel/tire dealer) if they will fit the SQ5, they say no, sometimes mentioning the larger brakes of the SQ5. Yet I know that 19" wheels can fit an SQ5 because that is what Audi shows for its recommended SQ5 winter wheel/tire package. And at Tire Rack they show numerous 19" wheels as acceptable wheels for the SQ5. Help me understand this, as I guess I would still prefer an Audi OEM wheel if I can get a good price on one.
