Correct. Although, I would go to IA's DMV site and download... *edit*
...their "Transfer of Ownership" form. I have no idea the form number, but you're going to need an "official" bill of sale. It's possible that a piece of paper with a crude contract drawn up on it would do...I'd even go and have it notarized.
*edit* Stupid fact of the day: When I was a kid in Iowa, your driver's license number was actually your social security number...and yes, of course it was printed on your DL. How dumb was that??

It's strange, actually. They're behind the times in some aspects...
...yet ahead of them in others. A good example is heating oil. Before I moved out here I had never even HEARD of heating oil...what an outdated and crude source of heat! All the houses in the Midwest are propane, electric, or solar. And central air...every house I lived in growing up had central air (mostly for AIR CONDITIONING), but after moving out here I've noticed that there are very few houses with central air...excluding newly built (within the last 5 years or so) homes. Maybe it's because the summers out there are so harsh *shrug*.
