Throttle Body Boot, -TBB, sucks. Even the updated one.Clutch will be fine unless you really abuse it
a reinforced TBB, like what the Eclipse guys came up with a few years ago will solve that problem
also the crappy rubber diaphragm seals on the stock Bosch DV's were born to fail.
a good aftemarket solid piston DV is good insurance against poor performance and headaches
Now, if you upgrade the turbo's or go MTM Stage 3, then a clutch upgrade is going to be neccesary

stock clutch can't handle unchipped engine
If you are going to dump your clutch a lot, you will wreck it fairly fast, whether you chip your car or not. Quattro just cuts the wheels spin down so much that the driveline take a beating on hard starts.
Either take it easy, or be prepared to buy a few clutches.
TBBs are holding up pretty well lately. Very few people have anything but the Audi TBB and the number of blown TBBs still is tolerable. Could be a lot better though.
If you are going to run your car hard, replacing your bypass valves is probably good insurance. Most people aren't having catastrophic failures with the stocks, but more than a few people are probably losing performance to them.
To be honest, the car does pretty well with nothing but a chip.
