Default 2017 A4 performance chip

My A4 is a 6 speed manual. The performance is good. I am wondering how to achieve the increased performance of the S3 using the same engine but providing 292 HP, an additional 40 HP. Is the difference in power simply due to tuning?

Both engines are 2.0 litre turbos with direct injection. what accounts for the 40 HP difference? 252 vs 292 in the S3? Also, same engine in the GTI R?

Yes same engine but the S3 has the IS38 turbo, and plugs. The A4 has the IS20.

You can do a swap for like $1400 and tune it and bam you S3 power Stage 1 style. I am not sure about the intercooler. if the A3 and S3 are the same size.

The IS20 is good for about 22P{SI sustained maybe max at 25 if you keep things cool otherwise you pull timing and 22PSI makes more power.

The IS38 will run around 33-36PSI tuned!

And a good idea to check the torque ceiling of the quattro Ultra system used on the manual A4 as well, I would have thought.

Plus the R is transverse engine mount which has a different fit for the turbo and headers.

Also the trannys are different.

Have you looked into the Neuspeed plug in play programmer ... it is honestly that plug and play ...for a extra HP - TRQ ... not a bad deal at all ...

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not familiar with Neuspeed, but the Plug and Play feature seems to offer comparable performance ( 35-50 HP gain) with minimal investment ($400.00 US). What are the risks to the engine and warranty? Have you used this device or know of others who have used it? If so, does it live up to its billing and is it reliable?
