Another gearbox question, except it's about Tip. Does anybody know how modular they are?

Could the torque converter be swapped without swapping whole gearboxes? I'm thinking the torque converter is sort'a like the clutch, so that to handle extra torque, the converter is the weak link...
Or, do you guys know how interchangeable are the Tip gearboxes?

The torque converter is the primary source of heat build up in the ATF system...
any dino oil can loose their viscocity properties, can bubble up (froth) from the converter blender action) and just loose their effectiveness causing more slip. You can improve the oil coolers to help against this, but why not use a better oil also?
I'm using Redline ATF on our Acura and soon a family's A4. Off the bath, the Acura shifts were harder - same effect as tightening the clutch bands - it doesn't slip as much as it locks gear to gear. Yes we lost the some of the smoothness of Dextron II, but that can be managed with the gas pedal. Redline doesn't break down as easy as dyno oil so on extreme conditions - like going up hills - the tranny really maintains it's bite.
