Default Equal rebound for F/R coilovers

On a daily driver S4, would it be preferable for the heavier front end to have a stiffer rebound than the light back end?

Default Keep them equal unless you know what your goals are.

Presumably you bought a kit which means it was the manufacturer of the setup that did the spring and strut matching for you. So, best you start from the middle setting and customize from there.

The higher the rebound setting, then the more resistance the wheel has to come back down when it has sprung up from a bump. So, what this does is the wheel will float over bumps whereas a low rebound setting will make the wheel follow every bump - but the whole car can be unstable at speed.

Higher rebound setting in front can induce corner exit understeer as you gas the car out of the corner and the tires are sorta in the air (best to think of extreme settings). More rebound setting on the rear induce corner entry oversteer as the weight of the car comes the front end and lifts the back wheels. Your rebound settings should match your spring settings because harder springs with less travel require a more aggressive setting hence it is easiest to get a set already matched up for you. So, in a way, depending on your springs, you can't really do much. Doing the extreme will get you an unmatched setting, an unstable car, and you won't be able to buy soda and eggs

Thanks for the explanation. I got KW V2's. Will start at 40% from soft.
