Default Ignition timing??

I generally understand ignition timing but I have a question about the timing on my '99 A6q 2.8.

I was goofing around this afternoon and logged block 003 with my VAG. I was interested to see what the air flow in the 2.8 was compared to my 2.7T. Well, when running this in the 2.8 I noticed that my ignition timing was almost always negative. By negative, I mean usually between -15 and -20degrees.

I did a few logs at WOT. The throttle went as low as -43deg. The highest it ever got was +4deg. Again, when cruising around town it was usually around -15 and -20degrees. Idle was about -15degrees.

Anyway, is this normal?? Doesn't seem like it is to me but I thought I would ask the pros.

If this isn't normal what could be the problem??

TIA!

P.S. The car seems to be running fine. No CEL's to speak of.

Default DBC cars are opposite of DBW cars...

Negative timing is really positive. Completely normal.

Default Seems normal to me..

neg = advanced timing = earlier spark
pos = retarted timing = later spark
