K04 intake temp questions. Heat soak and....more?
Take a look at my sig and you'll see what I've got and where I'm coming from. Anyway, last night I was at our local road course, and during the first half lap my intake temps were at 62 degrees Celcius. After two laps, they were 98 degrees Celcius. There is SIGNIFICANT loss in power accordin to my butt dyno. Normally I run 1:27 laps, but it honestly feels like I could run 1:25s if I kept the same power through my whole session as I have in the first half lap. I'm not throwing any codes and Lambda looks solid. Aside from heat soak, what else could be going on? FYI, I'm putting on a FMIC (Evo) in the next couple weeks. But could heat soak really be accountable for THAT big of a difference in intake temps? What else could be going on? BTW, my DV is perfect.

That's all it is. K04 outlet temps are super-hot, it's a tiny turbo. FMIC will help...
Not necessarily in controlling peak temps, but in recovery time. The K04 produces such hot air that it's tough for any IC to keep temps really cool. It will certainly help however. My Racetec FMIC brings temps back under control WAY faster than the stock one.
