They're the same..
internally, a good amount of them are. What weakens is the spring and/or the diaphram will tear and you'll loose boost pressure. Stock BPV's hold fairly .7-.9 (A4/S4/993tt/seat; etc) psi but even under hard street driving in totally stock form, they will wear out sooner, naturally. If you do alot of throttle rolling into and out of WOT you will notice some power losses. I used to consistantly flicker (boost guage) between 8-10 and 10-12 psi after I chipped. Even with the 'aftermarket' one I have now I get slight flickering on occcasions.
