Default I have been told to keep it under 1650F

but no one has told me why I need to keep it under 1650F. I've heard the turbos can only handle 1650F, but that hasn't been verified.

Another problem is you can get different readings depending on where you mount the probe.

If the probe is in the collector area, it will read 100-150F higher than if the probe is mounted in the runner close to the exhaust port.

If the probe is in the downpipe, it will read 50-100F cooler than if you have it mounted in the runner.

Mine is mounted in the #4 runner of the exhaust manifold.
