Windshield camera, but no adaptive cruise and lane assist
I've a US '19 Premium with, of course, pre-sense, but no adaptive cruise, lane assist or top view camera. Safelite came out to replace the windshield yesterday, looked at the car and said I had to take it in because my car has the windshield camera and needed calibration. Sure enough, you can see the camera back up in there. What's this camera for? Is it vestigiality?

Thanks Eeeekez. The manual says there's a "camera" there (location 1 in the figure below) associated with the "assist systems" (no capitalization). Perhaps it is just used for the high beam assistant. The manual says there is "A camera on the rearview mirror mount can detect light sources from other road users. The high beams switch on or off automatically. . . " I would have thought the high beam assistant was a sensor, not a camera. Maybe in more highly optioned cars, the camera is for top view.
