Default Manual mode - Can you hit the rev-limiter?

I searched but could not find the information...

In manual mode, can you hold a gear until it hits the rev limiter?
Does it blip the trottle when you downshift?

Thanks!

Which gearbox?
What part of the world are you in?
What car are you talking about?

With the DSG gearbox and the 2.0t, the answer is Yes, and Yes.
With the 8-speed 'box in the 2.0t, the answer is Yes, and No.
With the 6-Speed 'box in the 3.2, the answer is Yes, and I do not know.
With the ??????? 'box in the 3.0 TDI, the answer is I do not know, and I do not know.

Hope that helps.

Are you sure? In NA with the 8spd/2.0t, it definitely shifts for you 1000 RPM or so before redline.

in D or S mode our 11 2.0T "blubbers" for a beat or two before deciding to up shift and really takes the edge off of acceleration....

Never have tried it in manual mode, but would think it would force a shift too since it forces a downshift if the rpms get too low...

The OP mentioned "manual mode", not D or S. So, my response I believe is correct, and yes, I am sure.

ERRATA!!!

I was in a position today to test the manual mode in my 2011 Q5 2.0t with the 8-speed gearbox.

When in manual mode the gearbox will upshift automatically at around 6,500 RPM. That is about 500rpm below red line. It will thus not be possible to bounce off the rev limiter.
I am quite sure I did manage to bounce the motor off the rev limiter in an A3 with the DSG 'box. But, I have been wrong before.

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused sharing incorrect information.
