I have bought 2x Koito LED Daytimes Running Light Ballast from Xenons4u.co.uk, instead of other expensive dealer and it has worked fine, fully satisfied.

"LED Daytimes Running Light Ballast"
Perhaps that lost something in translation. HID lights use ballasts. LEDs do not.
And the DRL's are LED's, never HID's, as far as I know.
??

Or are they replacing the HID ballast, and the LED power controller is integrated into that?
The 4500 hour lifetime they quote would also be less than 1/10th of a typical LED lifetime, indicating the LED's are being cruelly overdriven, way past manufacturer's recommendations.

Resurecting this old thread, I have replaced the ballast on my 2012 Q5 p+ driver side DRL, but it did not fix the issue. The light is still out. Oddly, the behavior leading up to mine was that it would “go out” and immediately start working again after a few minutes, no problems for weeks, then it would mysteriously happen again. it’s now just plain out, and I have not been able to fix it. I am open to suggestions, i’d really prefer not to replace the entire headlamp assembly.

Morgali-
You can troubleshoot that. Any competent (ha) auto electric shop can troubleshoot that.
But you say "DRL ballast". The DRLs are LED, with a current controller. It is not a ballast, no matter how Audi perhaps mistranslates the term. A ballast is a high voltage converter, used with the Xenon headlamps. The LED controller probably puts out "battery" voltage on the DRL side, the ballast puts out more like 30,000 volts. Enough to kill. Very different.

Troubleshooting is the same in either case, you just need to know what you are looking at, and test the voltages in/out of each section until you find the bad one. Often, a wet or corroded contact is all it takes to kill either one.

Yes, the LEDs in the DRL can go bad. Yes, the xenon headlight capsules can go bad. Odds are, with the DRLs, that the wiring has gone bad first.

I used to own a car stereo shop. I'm way too familiar with the automotive electrical systems basics unfortunately. My fluke meters have no problems with voltages. I was just hoping that there was a viable if not x then y solution to my problem.

I appreciate your response however!

And just as an fyi, it's amperes that kill, voltage affects how well a current will flow through a medium, but the amps are the fatal bit. Thus higher voltages flow well through meat sacs like us, allowing the amperage to climb high enough to be fatal... :/

Default 2015 SQ5 Daytime Running Light Driver Side Out?

Hey, several years ago the driver side daytime running light went out then came back on; before troubleshooting. No problems since. Now ot has gone out again and accepted it's time to replace both sides.

Is there a control module I should replace or the headlights? There are two (2) on the backside of the headlight / engine compartment. Not sure which is which... If headlight, does it come complete with control modules?

Are the module(s) part numbers different for the left and right side?

I see modules in the forum but not sure? Thoughts / recommendations would be great and possibly a parts source, list, instructions...
