Rear mount bicycle racks- hot ticket?
#11
THe rack is completely out of the way of the exhaust when folded up. From the pictures on the other post you can see his is completely out of the way and my hitch is only 2-3 inches lower. You may consider the T2, based on your pictures, it may fit better even with the aftermarket hitch. Also, you can take off one of the bike holders and just run around with one attached. I know this because my car was rearended with the rack down (no bike). I used it with only one bike holder for a few weeks until my new parts came. Ironically I had it in the down position because the latch to allow it to rotate up wouldn't budge. Since it was brand new I was taking it back to exchange. Well after the truck hit it, it works fine.

Most trunk mounted racks work well, but are for someone just getting into cycling on a budget. I would however be wary putting it on anything that didn't have an actual trunk as they will not be as stable. Not to mention, you can not access your hatch unless you take it off. Hands down, a hitch rack will be your best bet, second, would be a roof rack.
And not to sound rude, but if you're driving an Audi Q5, a trunk rack should not even be a consideration. Spend a little extra and get something that works RIGHT.
