Heck, anything is possible, right?

Why not restore default values prior to heading off to the dealer?

For the cosmetic and convenience feature changes (eg. winking DRLs), I highly doubt your warranty would ever be affected. On the other hand, if you used VAG-COM to make changes to your ECU (eg. boost related modifications on turbo engines), they could definitely blame the modification for the failure. Also, if you were to enable the Video-in-motion feature for example, Audi would not be liable if you crashed while watching a DVD :-)

Default Fool-proof?

Is the Vag-Com pretty fool-proof to use? I'm very tempted in investing in it. Especially if the dealer's gonna reset everything at each service.

Yep it's relatively straight-forward to use... you can always get help from the VAG-COM forums on this site.

Default Winking DRL - Can it be changed?

I searched for the answer to this, but I'm still not sure of the answer so...
can the dealer reprogram the Q5 DRLs to stay on when the turn signals are activated?
I'm not lovin' the "winking DRL" when the turn signal blinks. Looks wrong to me.

I'm sure the dealer can do it. I guess the more direct question is, will they?

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks Old Dog and kleinbus for the help.
I'll try and schmooze my Audi dealer into "turning off the wink" when I go in for first service.

Let us know how it goes. I'd like to get rid of the wink but just have a hard time trusting a stranger with my baby.

I'll be in Vegas next week if any of you guys here on the forum have a VAG-COM!

JFA in L.A.,

If successful, let me know which dealership does this for you. I too am in the L.A., area and was told by my local dealership (Rusnak) NO! to "turning off the wink". That's all I wanted them to do, a few "clicks" of the mouse...BS me thinks!
