Q7 driveshaft knocking noise
Hello everyone,
Experiencing a knocking noise while I'm slowing down or decreasing speed. I have examined the axles, ball joints and everything seems to be in place. Does not make no squeaking sound like a ball joint would. And no noises when turning left or right. The knocking sound appears to be coming from the passenger rear side while decreasing speed at 3rd gear while decreasing from the 4th to 3rd, the catalytic converter was changed and it has 100k miles on it
My Q7 is 3.0TDI 2013
P.S is changing the driveshaft is recommended or worth doing it if the problem is from the converter or from the driveshaft

Last check was a long time and all was good, dealer said it was good.
regarding excessive play, I can notice in the center of the vehicle there is also a shake I can feel it seems like it comes after the knocking noise that comes from the rear passenger side area like the rear wheel is getting over a bump or stones but only that side

Check it yer self, its dead center of the vehicle and got rubber bushings.. grab onto driveshaft and using brute force see if it moves, it should be pretty firmly fixed.. if its sloppy thats the problem.
looks like this, but of course with driveshaft going thru the middle.

easiest way to ID fluids is to smell it, motor oil, gear oil, power steering fluid, coolant, water, etc all pretty easy to identify once you know what they smell like.
