DIY Oil Change

Maybe if this car was a Koenigsegg one:1 I would probably think twice about changing the oil on it. But not the Q7.
I have always enjoyed doing my own maintenance and repairs. Believe me, I can easily afford to pay someone to do it. There is just no personal satisfaction in paying someone to do something that I can do just as well or better. I also like opening new parts from packaging, selecting my oil, meticulously cleaning up after the job. MMM!...fresh oil

I haven't gotten it yet but in all my other vehicles I drain it, I have considered vacuuming it but I have not looked to see what method would be easier. I'm assuming vacuuming will be the easiest but I'm currently unsure about the issue of it having no dipstick. Once I take delivery I will figure out which method I will use.

Once you do a vacuum oil change you will never want to drain again. (Or pay the dealer for something that is so easy)
On our old Q7, it would take me 10 minutes to put it on ramps then remove all the bolts and screws to release the belly pan. I can change the oil on our LR4 in 10 minutes using a Mityvac. LR4 has an electronic dipstick too, but when I see 8 quarts come out in the Mityvac I know I can put 8 quarts back in.
Also, as much as I hate to go to Walmart, they do have the best price on 5 gallon bottles of Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

I'm in! I have always found removal and reinstallation of the pan to be inconvenient.
An Mityvac model recommendations?
Also, is there less oil left in the filter post vac versus draining?

Have you changed your 2017 Q7 oil?
I have a 14 Q7 that now has 48K miles. I am tired of paying $220 for an oil change. I have done oil changes before on different cars. I am a little worried about the oil cartridge. Do you need to prime the filter with oil? Am I just making a big deal out of this? It shouldn't be any different than changing a filter.
