So I have a '14 Q5 TDI in for service last week and in place got a '19 Q5 2.0 with nice sound, not many bells/whistles. Drove away, very smooth, quiet, nicely done but stumbles a tad off the line. Had the car for 2 days and thought wow, very nice BUT very under powered coming from my TDI and was really happy to get back into my oil burner. Can't imagine the 2.0 in a heavier machine. .02

I just follow what’s noted on the sticker on driver door jamb. I think for the 20’s we have I’ve set them to 34 or 35psi.

Well, not everyone will want the same things as you. You can buy a new Q ranging from 60k to 90k, and they are all based on the same engineering and parts. So yeah, you may want the fully optioned version, and someone may not and may feel like an 90k Q is not worth it.

Speaking the obvious. Everyone has different taste and budget. Why not quote the guy that says buying anything more than a base 2.0 is a waste.

Fwiw mine was 78 and paid 65. Pretty well equipped without being 90.

Had the 2.0 as a loaner about a year a go and was pretty miserable. First, of course I compared it to the 3.0 and obviously there is going to be a difference. But even on its own, it struggled through town, which has hills throughout. I don't think it's the engine so much as it is the weight of the Q7; it just wouldn't cut it.

I know some 4 cylinders can sound nice, but I have yet to hear one on a German car I've driven that sounded good. All of them loaners. Starting with the F30 320i several years back. I've tried several BMWs with the turbo 4 and they didn't sound the way a luxury car should. Doesn't have to sound like an M3 or even a 340i, but between that 320i and the 528i (F10) and the last-gen X5, I just can't do 4 cylinders in a luxury car, especially larger ones like the luxury SUVs.
