I received the following from Audi today and was able to login and download the full 10.1 GB file update. I'll try and copy it to SD card and install later.

I've owned my Q7 for all of two months. Do I need to update the maps already? How frequently do folks update the maps and are there any limits on the number of updates?

It's updated every 6 months so you probably don't. You can actually see in the car via audi connect=>software update how many available updates are there and whether you have installed them.

My understanding is that you get 5 free over-the-air regional updates then you'll need to subscribe to audi connect, whereas updates by sd card is unlimited, but I'm not completely sure about the latter.

Hi guys, I tried again after seeing you guys' postings, unfortunately I am still seeing the login error.

Does the downloader take myAudi or AudiConnect credentials?

I used my MyAudi credentials.

Downloaded to PC, transferred to SD card, selected the Map Update from SD card option in MMI, after about an hour or so of driving in the car, received the Update Complete message.

The same log in as you'd use for https://www.audiusa.com/myaudi which is separate from myaudiconnect.com. How Audi treats all these accounts shows how traditional automakers lag behind Tesla, like how Nokia and Motorola lagged behind Apple's iPhone.

Thanks guys, I was finally able to download the update and install it on my Q7 successfully!

I did use the myAudi credentials. I had been trying the download on my Windows PC with the error, so I thought I would try it on my Mac this time, and that worked at the first try. Weird.
