it can be as much as $2400 with parts, labor, and a new valence. it is totally worth it. they also splice into the taillight wiring correctly to prevent issues down the road. go factory.

The OEM tow module is plugged into the existing harness, then a secondary harness is run to the seven pin outlet. That module will signal the ECU and other computers when a trailer is engaged, changing driving dynamics and keeping the hatch from fully opening (when the button is pressed). For vehicles with auto stopstart, this function will be disabled. Splicing into the harness won't give you any of this.

Well...the OEM setup doesn't "splice into the wiring." That would suggest wire cutters and electrical tape.
