Didn't see this coming.....PPIR reopens for club use!!!
Don't have a lot of details, just know that NASA RM secured the Labor Day weekend for an HPDE/race weekend. Don't know how they did it, but apparently the "new owners" are working with some of the local clubs to get the facility used again. With La Junta in complete disarray (the track was recently repaved and didn't cure long enough before use and it's all ripped up now) and Pueblo the only useable track in the area, this is welcome news!

I heard about this but it still seemed too pie in the sky to post
Don't like getting peoples hopes up when it comes to tracks - like we've been down this path too many times

La Junta
Lack of curing was only one of the problems. The other was the aggregate used. Something about rounded river rock as opposed to crushed stone. La Junta had some paving projects and then added the track with the same specs. Even if it did have time to cure it wouldn't have lasted much longer.
Hopefully they will be able to do it right the next time. They still want events held in La Junta.

Pricing (un official)
Quoted from an email
"I just received a call from Arden Weatherford (xxx) xxx-xxxx. He is the proud new owner of PPIR and invites all clubs to schedule racing events at the new PPIR. If your club wishes more information, Arden would like you to call him.
Pricing for the VIP parking lot (where we usually run the Low Speed Autocrosses) is going to be between $700.00 and $800.00 per day for the rest of this year. Next year it will go up to $1000.00 per day as they are making a lot of improvements to the facility.
The inside track, for the rest of this year, will rent for about $4000.00 per day, next year it will go up to $5000.00 per day.
He is also planning a road track on the OUTSIDE of the oval track, but not for a year or two.
Bottom line is that PPIR is open for business and wants everyone in the area to start using it."
