Yeah they are awesome. We have them in the neighborhoord
I once was trail running behind the house at dusk and came between one and the deer it was chasing. Somewhat of a 'life experience'. They are large animals...

I saw 3 racoons then a animal walk away, followed it in my truck looked over 8ft away starred at me
Unreal, love those animals. I was with my dog and he didn't know what to think but it was a smaller mountain lion I would say probably 110lbs a little bigger then my dog, but wow it was beautiful. I was parking my truck when I turned the corner and saw 3 raccoons go down a water hole then looked ahead and saw a long tail with black tip ahead. I though that might be a lion, drove up a little couldn't see it then behind a tree he stared at me standing on the sidewalk infront of 422 marine. Beautiful animal, I put my window down halfway in hope to snap a photo with my cell but he slowly pranced away and I followed him up a driveway that backs to the mountain. in the backyard and at the base of flagstaff.
In my experience they will leave an area then come back, so I circled around a couple times looked near 3rd university to see if he came out there, then went around by eben gene park and back to the area. he didn't return but I bet he was stalking those Raccoons. I wanted to sit in the truck and wait for his return but it was 430 am so I had to rest.
I'll be tracking them this year for sure, they are incredible.
Oh - last year I saw two huge 200lb lions together at the top of flagstaff, 2 200 pounders together on pinebrook and 1 125lb lion walking down 4th street by alpine alone and he too was about 5-8 ft from my truck. i previously had pictures of all these. After I saw the first set on pine brook I bought a spotlight so I could really see them, but I didn't have it last night.

Wife: What are you doing coming home at 5:00 AM on a Friday night?
Me: Oh just tracking mountain lions...
Nice experience man. For real. I've lived in Colorado most of my life and the only wild lion I saw was one getting struck after jumping in front of a Jeep on I-70 East around Idaho Springs. Would love to see one under better circumstances although not necessarily a 200lb lion while mountain biking.
