Default Big problem.... Please help

I was driving yesterday on the highway going about 80mph. Right before I was getting off onto an off-ramp, I downshifted from 6th to 5th gear. At that moment, my car did something very strange. Apparently it just completely shut off. I didn't notice it at first except for the battery sign that lit up on my dashboard. The next thing I tried to do was to move my steering wheel but the power steering was gone. At this point I knew the power was gone, but didn't think the engine would shut off too. Low and behold I try to accelerate, but no throttle response at all. The car was pretty much exactly like it would be when sitting idle without ignition. What I did was just turn the car off with the clutch in and turn it back on and it turned on right away. I just dont understand why my car would shut off.

Is it possible that I stalled while going 80mph?????

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas why this would happen? All I have done to the car was put in the Gruppe M air intake.

Check your battery connections and make sure they are tight. The battery may have shifted enough to transiently break the circuit. It's a stretch I know, but easy to check.
