Bob W. - tell us about the sport button
You said in your post it makes a noticeable difference. Is that in sound quality/level, or throttle responsiveness, or both?
Those of us waiting will know soon enough, of course. But it is something to fill those last few hours.

Both.
Sound quality/level: to me, pushing the sport button is like instantaneously going from a stock exhaust to a mild aftermarket exhaust....you can absolutely hear the difference, even just sitting at idle.
In terms of throttle response and power, it's somewhat similar to the difference between driving a tiptronic S4 in 'S' versus 'D'. Or perhaps similar to driving a chipped B6/7 S4 versus stock (just guessing, as I've never compared the two). Not a HUGE difference, but definitely noticeable.
For driving aggressively, sport mode is a lot more fun, but in stop-and-go traffic it's just a little bit tedious...the improved throttle response makes the car want to 'jump' off the line, which isn't exactly useful if there's another car right in front of you.

Re: Both.
What BobW said... immediately after you hit the button at idle you can hear the tone drop in frequency. Does make the throttle response more aggressive - similar to a stock late model 911.

Re: Bob W. - tell us about the sport button
I think my fascination with the sport button is beginning to wain. I'm breaking in doing mostly back road driving with lots of starts and stops - the almost sport bike like throttle response will surely take some miles off the clutch... which will cost thousands to replace. With the button on, the throttle kicks high with just the slightest tap - like when your trying to pull into a garage. Hopefully there will be a mod that separates the exhuast valve from the throttle mapping programs. Or maybe just disconnect the exhuast valves when they're in the "Ferrari" mode leaving it in that position regardless of the dash switch. I'm sure with a few more hours behind the wheel the nervous throttle of the S button won't seem so twitchy...
