Default How resilient is the RS4?

I had a B5 S4 which wasn't very hearty and always in the shop. Fast forward and I've gone through a couple 911s and STIs. All of those cars are really bulletproof, albeit the 911s require expensive maintenance.

I've always always wanted the RS4. I like driving my cars hard, not abusing it (like drop clutch starts). I spoke with the reputable Audi Indy shop and he said most of the issues are the well know DRC failures and CB build up. If that's all I have to worry about along with maintenance, I'm fine with that.

Just curious if anyone can expand or comment. Thanks.

Pretty solid. Only had the above two issues with my RS4s. I beat the poo out of mine.

Had the car for almost 2 1/2 years and the only problem I had was my fuel pump went.

Besides the said DRC (rev B will fix it all) and Carbon buildup on the valves, they are as hearty as a ubersedan comes IMO. For such a high-strung engine, its very reliable.

I daily drove a B5 S4 for 4+ years, before doing the same now on my RS4 for 2+ years.

The S4 was an absolute piece of garbage compared to this refined beast ... so yeah, night & day. I'm at 55k on the odo, with no "other" issues to speak of.

Got the RS4 new since November 2006. It has just under 28k miles now and no problems other than a DRC recall. Motor pulls as strongly as it did if not even stronger. Best car I've ever had.

28k miles in 5 years!? I think when I get mine I'll be pretty stingy with the mileage too but it will be my daily. My 911s were rock solid except when things broke they weren't cheap. Oh well...pay to play, right?

I am not trying to keep miles off of it. I'd drive it more, but circumstances require that I drive a different car most of the time.
