Lifespan of OG Brake Pads?
Guys, today when I started my car, an indicator light marked "brake" came on and beeped twice with ingnition.
I immediately thought it was the handbreak but now I'm thinking it's probably that the pads have had it.
Car has 17k Miles.
Who has already changed their pads? What brand did you replace with?
Thanks.

22K miles
Dealer told me that the fronts usually last around 20K depending on how you drive.
Consider yourself lucky, there are a few members whose indicator lights didn't work. They ended up with rotor damage.
Used OEM pads. Not sure if that was the best decision.

my first set lasted 3k miles :)
I eventually figured out that it was cheaper in the long run to get specialized pads for the track and save the oem pads for the street but unfortunately burned through about 2 more sets before doing so. The oem pads simply get destroyed at the track while a properly bedded-in race pad lasts longer.
If you change to aftermarket pads, there are many options from low-dust street pads to high-temp race pads... but almost none of them will have the oem's wear sensor connector.
For the street, Centric Posi quiet are good low noise low dust pads. Also Porterfield R4-S are suitable for the more aggressive driver. I'm fine with oem.
For the track, try Pagid RS14 black, Ferodo DS2500, DS3000, Porterfield R4, etc. depending on driving style, frequency of events.
All of the above are available for the RS4's brembo GT8 calipers.
Personally I stick to oem pads for street use because I don't care about dust since I wash my car once a week. For the track, I swap in Pagid RS14 blacks and I like them a lot.
