MY07 vs MY08 RS4 - for kimbo
Dear Kimbo,
I am thinking of ordering a RS4 to replace the D2 S8, but I am reluctant because it seems that the ordering for the MY08 will begin soon. When will Audi start taking order for MY08? Will any new options or choices (to your best knowledge) be added for MY08? Since you are a dealer I hope you will be able to help my decision, I am located in California. I wish for the following items to be added: solar sunroof, double pane windows, flat bottom steering wheel, and ceramic brakes. I very kindly thank you in advance.

DSG is not available on the R8 with the V8 engine.
R-Tronic is not DSG/S-Tronic. In fact, DSG won't be available in any B7 cars. Also, flat bottom steering wheel won't be available in RS4 in North America.

Thank you for clarifying the option list, Moro. Could elaborate more about the differences between DSG/S-tronic vs. R-tronic. I though they are the same type of transmission ( twin clutch ).

My suggestions
AFAIK, Kimbo is not currently a dealer/owner but he remains very well-connected within Audi. He will be able to tell you just about anything you would ever want to know about any Audi, but he can't order a car for you. If anyone here can answer your questions, it probably will be Kimbo.
The 2008 order guides will likely come out around mid-late May of 2007. You could realistically expect delivery of a 2008 RS4 about 3-4 months later. Some have suggested that ceramic brakes might be an option for 2008. Another possible option is the Alcantara seats similar to those in the S4. Beyond that, I doubt we will have many more additional options.
CBS4 (Christopher Bearman) is an Audi Brand Specialist in Palo Alto, CA and has sold several people here their RS4's. You might try giving him a call at 650-856-6300 x118. He is very knowledgable regarding the RS4 and I highly recommend him.

No need to apologize....
You didn't offend anyone here.
I just re-read your post and can comment on the options you are looking for: solar sunroof (highly doubtful), double pane windows (highly doubtful and you should note the RS4 is substantially noisier than the S8), flat bottom steering wheel (highly doubtful but easily done aftermarket for about $1200), and ceramic brakes (probable but very expensive, probably $8-12K).
You are probably at least 8 months away from driving a 2008. If you are ready for a new car that is along time to wait. There are RS4's available for almost immediate delivery depending on your color/options choices.
Make sure that you are willing to sacrifice quite a bit of the luxury of A8/S8 going to the RS4. Depending on your needs, the A8L is a great car at a similar price point. If you can live with the smaller car, I don't think you will disappointed with the RS4. I love mime and choose to drive it over anything else Audi currently offers.
Good luck in your search. Let us know what you decide.
