Seriously, thanks for putting in the time to help me sort through the adjustment issue. The linkage upgrade is also awesome, no slop whatsoever, just clean and crisp and direct.

How is your first gear and reverse when cold?
After 3, yes 3 adjustments, I am not in a position to recommend this to anyone. While the shifts between gears is much bettter after the final adjustment, going into 2nd still feels 'weird'. I spent a lot of time with the shop adjusting it, and it seems if we were to get a perfect 'L' shape shift from neutral to 1st, or a vertical straight 90 degree line from 1st to 2nd gear (azs it is supposed to be), Reverse becomes impossible to shift into. To get into reverse, we had to 'compromise' the 1st/2nd gear shifting, to the point that going into first is now more like a 75 degree angle than a 90 degree angle.
I can perhaps get used to that, but what's worse is the going into 1st when engine is cold is an issue. You have to try a couple of times, or shift to another gear and then it goes. Once warm it is fine, but at this stage thinking of going to stock. It's obvious we can't get it perfect and have to compromise on a few things, so might as well go back to factory... It's been a disappointing and time consuming experience...

I had the same problem, but went with the follwing adjustment video and it came out well
pass this along to the shop you're working with and give it one last try before reverting to stock.<ul><li><a href="http://audishifter.com/videos/B6B7_S4RS4_Updated_Shifter_Adjustment_Procedure_10-16-08.wmv">shifter adjustment</a></li></ul>
