Default RS4 Winter Tires?

My car is at the dealer with high performance summer tires. Do you early adopters of RS4s have a recommendation for winter skins? TIA!

Default Many of us have the Dunlop M3 or M3 3D [newer version of M3]

installed on 19" OEM wheels.

There are other folks who are running 18" wheels with different tires.. you can search this forum for more information posted.

From my short experience - I ran with the summer tires for about two weeks until the 3D's arrived [not in stock, ordered and waited upon] - the summer tires on this car are deadly in anything cold other than dry pavement [slush, snow, ice, etc..]. The fact that quattro is configured 60rear/40front on RS4 - makes it even more a sharper knife to stab yourself with it - and very easily so.

Since I put the 3D's on - it feels like I am on dry pavement - until really icy or lots of tough snow roads come in contact at high speeds. I didn't reach the limit to its handling on high speeds - yet - and I am sure it will come with more driving [and a couple of those 'dammmit!! Argghh!! phew!' moments]..

A bit pricey - yes - but _very well_ worth it.

Be advised that some tire shops might suggest a set of 18" - well - _make sure_ they know what they are talking about - I was told that only 2-3 18" wheels fit the RS4 - due to the brakes size - mostly.

In any case - put some winters on and enjoy the beast! She will purr like nothing else..

Default Dunlop Wintersport 3D

My Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds are going great now that our winter has arrived. I'd definitely recommend them. Didn't have time to source winter wheels, so I have them on the stock 19".

Default Per Gary at the Tire Rack - there is little difference between the M3 and the D3s

so don't feel bad if you have to get the M3s

They make a run-flat tire in the 3d? do you suggest those?

No - they are a heavier tire than normal.
