My car is telling me I need service close to 9000 miles when there is no secheduled service until 15,000 - has anybody had this happen?

My S4 did that
Even though Audi will only pay for service at 10K intervals (after the 5K service), my S4 asked for changes at every 5K miles. My RS4 is new, with just under 1000 on the clock, and I assumed it would do it as well.
I personally change oil at no more than 5K miles in my engines. I am not abusive, but I do drive in a "spirited" fashion. Synthetic or no, a couple more oil changes is a small investment in engine longevity (IMHO)

Just reset the service indicator (procedure is in the manual)
If you plan on keeping the car, I would change the oil every 5K. If it is a lease or you plan to trade it in I would just follow the Audi service intervals.
