Can S4 V8 use RS4 parts to get 8250 RPM?

Default Can S4 V8 use RS4 parts to get 8250 RPM?

When I look at the port vs. FSI versions of Audi's V8's, the 7200 rpm version only went from 340 to 350 hp. Since the RS4 makes 420 hp, I am thinking a FSI-less version would make ~400 hp. Given the problems with FSI and RS4's in general, I am curious if anyone has looked at using some RS4 V8 parts to make a port-injected V8 with 8250 redline.

The RS4's V8 has 32 valves vs. the S4's 40 valves, but I am guessing the switch was made to accommodate FSI rather than to raise the redline.

I would think the higher redline would mostly require stronger rods, lightweight pistons, stiffer valve springs, and hotter cams.

Does anyone know the major mechanical differences between the two V8's?

Short answer, No. There are too many parts that are lightened in the RS4 motor and are not direct swaps with the S4 motor. John Hoppen is an expert on Audi performance tuning. Check out his performance parts for the S4.
