Opinions wanted. Thinking of putting my V1 remote display here, but I'll have to
drill a hole to run the wire. I can make the hole small because I can crimp on an new end.
What do you guys think?

Very little. However, now I'm looking into taking the remote display apart and setting it flush within the panel. Just have to see if there's enough clearance in the back for it.

I've seen modded, slim V1 concealed displays for sale on fleabay from time to time. They have the power cord coming out the back as well. If I find one I'll post the link.
EDIT: Here's an example: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114261 Couldn't find a current one for sale with a quick google search, you may have more luck.

No need to drill a hole and will not block MMI screen if you mount it just up a bit and to the left. I mounted mine with double stick tape to the underside of the dash after running the wire between the dash and the trim piece. The back of the V1 remote is still almost flush (and looks flush) to the trim piece. I'm not sure having the front flush in would look any better. And my install is completely reversible, which I always like.

I thought a lot about that myself and considered the spot you are showing us. I went with the left side of the dash though. There is a perfect spot for it above the vent on the left but under the overhang on the dash which makes it very discrete and easy to hide the cable. The main issue I had with it by the MMI was that I could not find a clean way to run the cable.

That looks very tacky in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that it is not going to be very concealed if you are ever pulled over. Where did you mount the V1?
I run my V1 with it clipped on the passenger's sun visor. It stays out of the way, but I can easily see the display in my peripheral vision. The wires are run through the headboard, down the A pillar, and into the fuse box so everything is out of sight.
