That mirror tap is pretty slick if it's a reliable connection.

I installed mine over the weekend - a BlueSkySea BW1 which is a small dashcam, managed to get it behind the mirror so it's not visible at all from the drivers side. Decided to wire it up to the rear view mirror area to save trying to run cabling all through the car.
A couple of small issues that I had;
I had exactly the same transformer as @Magnit had in this post.

But I couldn't find anywhere at all behind the cover that the transformer box would fit. Eventually I just managed to squeeze it under the headliner so it's actually sat inside between the material and my roof. Only concern if it starts rattling in which case I think I'll try and get some strong padded tape to hold it in place.
Second of all, after completing it I had an Automatic Headlight error, I tried allsorts first including reseating everything and couldn't shift it, started to get really worried and then Googled the issue, as soon as I saw the word "fuse" I kicked myself, indeed I'd managed to blow the fuse. Always remember to disconnect the battery first kids!
Apart from I should have used a spirit level (I've got one more sticky pad, so might resolve) everything is perfect.
