Default A Pillar Removal

Hi all, trying to install cables for a radar behind the A Pillar and/or front headliner (where the cloth meets the front windshield), anyone have any advice, suggestions, tutorials or videos on how to properly remove said pillar without damaging the plastic? I want to try to tuck said cables behind the front headliner and A pillar running it down to the diagnostic port!

Running a Uniden R3 + Valentine Saavy just like Zamboni27 in his suggested radar thread!

Thanks in advance!

There's good info in this thread. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...-wire-2931250/

Specifically, post #37 shows what it looks like underneath the thing so you can kind of see where the clips are.

Interestingly I have an extra A pillar cover (long story, mine was damaged by a valet and I made them buy me a new one) so if you can't figure it out from that, let me know and I'll take some pictures of it for you. It happens to be sitting about 10 feet away from me right now in my home office.

THANK YOU! That'll definitely help!

Odd that the A5/S5 doesn't have that start/stop "browning out" or radar restart/cycle issue when doing the hard wire via the mirror. The S4 does according to a few on this side of the forum: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/s4-...2935388/page2/

Could I actually ask that you post a picture of the A pillar? Thanks!

Sure here ya go. This is the driver's side. The wider more Y shaped end is the bottom, which appears to hook in meaning you'd want to pull from the top/roof end of the trim piece.

I Installed my Escort Redline on my S4 hardwired via Mirrortap with no browning out issues at all. Weird

@mplsbrian
Hi Brian,

The top clip of the A Pillar, did you have to pull hard on it to get the pillar off? Or is there a trick with passing a small plastic tool and pushing on a clip?
Any help / advise is welcome as I am planning on removing the A Pillar to wire my dashcam.

Thanks,
Mat
