Changing Rear Brake Pads - WTF?!
I thought I had this figured out, but for the life of me I can't remember how I did this last time..
I'm trying to depress the piston on the rear brake calipers so I can fit fresh pads in there...turn the piston clockwise and apply pressure right? Or am I forgetting something?
I've already drained the brake fluid as it is being replaced as well - what's the frigging trick here?
TIA.

As others have said, are you using the right tool for the job? If so whats the exact problem? The caliper piston will not go in or more likely, you cant get the piston to rotate clockwise? If you cant get the piston to rotate clockwise while applying pressure to retrack the piston you WILL NOT get the piston retracked.

Thanks for the input guys - went to Autozone and rented the loaner tool set from them as XCCESS said - using that I was able to do it in about 1 minute. I didn't have to get this thing last time. Somehow I managed to do it with a pair of pliers I had lying around...

Over time it gets harder and harder to rotate the pistons back in. This is due to corrosion of the caliper in the seal track applying more pressure on the piston and corrosion of the piston causing greater amounts of friction between it and the seal. Once the piston becomes stuck and will not rotate (even when using the proper tool) its time to rebuild the calipers.

I would wouldn't consider the pressure to be light. I've always had to really press hard. It's easiest with a piston compression tool, like the one in this video!

Hope this helps!
