HELP, not an Audi...an 89 TOYOTA (my g/f)... overheating...even right after putting water in, no oil

Default HELP, not an Audi...an 89 TOYOTA (my g/f)... overheating...even right after putting water in, no oil

leaks though so i dont think its a head gasket... radiator hose maybe, she says there is a little steam after overheating... any ideas?

might need a new thermostat or something... what kind of toyota?

Default could be the radiator jammed up with minerals from the water. Use distilled h2o

Thermostat is a good first step. Also try to jump the fan to see if it still overheats.

t-stat or water pump? I've heard of the WP impeller slipping on the shaft (think it was those)

it's the thermostat - failed closed. Happens frequently on older toyotas. $15, easy to replace.
