I don't think I need a V1- but I do think I need an 8500. Or do I?

I live in the Bahamas where the police use older radar tech in a relatively unsophisticated way- X & K bands and unhidden point 'n shoot from head on only.
Seems like the 8500 ought to be more than adequate here, no?

I don't know anything about the Bahamas, but I just switched from 8500 to V1 and love it.
I used the 8500 for about three years and liked it enough to defend it here on AW. However, when my fiancee wanted a radar detector I decided to give her the 8500 and get a V1 for myself. Having used the V1 now for about a month I can honestly say that the hype about the V1 is justified. The arrows do provide an added layer of comfort for aggressive driving. If you're not an aggressive driver and just want basic radar detection for highway driving or whatever the 8500 is more than adequate. But if you want the best out there and a better awareness of the radar signals around you, the V1 can't be beat.
