Default New topic for debate: (OT but many good minds on here) Hydrogren Boosted Engines. Water4Gas

So has anyone heard of this or looked into this? I want to try it on a budget car. I don't think this really for the S4 but on a DD it would be nice if it really worked.

You can also see more at youtube.

Also, I know OEMs are looking inot this, esp for SUVs, as a ligit source for increased fuel economy.<ul><li><a href="http://water4gas.com/2books.htm?hop=watertt">http://water4gas.com/2books.htm?hop=watertt</a</li></ul>

Default OK that website is a gimmic website BUT simple, homade hydrogen generators are real and the theory

is completely sound.

Check out this article from HowStuffWorks.com:

Also, I just saw a thing on the news about hydrogen boosted engines. I'm at least interested to find out more. After all, "IF" it does work well, at an inexpensive cost, why wouldn't you want to save that kind of money through efficiency?

People have made vehicles run off of water using the same HHO concept in the past. Just search HHO or Hydrogen generator and you'll be amazed. If hydrogen can be extracted and used so easily, efficiently and safely then this is def worth while.<ul><li><a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/how-a-hydrogen-boosted-gasoline-engine-works2.htm">http://auto.howstuffworks.com/how-a-hydrogen-boosted-gasoline-engine-works2.htm</a</li></ul>

Default A guy at my workplace is trying to do this with an old beater he has but I tend to think the laws of

physics are against him. Burn gas to push pistons and turn alternator to charge battery to produce electricity to pull hydrogen out of water to boost pushing of pistons. Hmmm...

Water is not fuel. Gas is the fuel and instead of the energy in the gas going to just power the car, it's also powering a bigger load on the alternator to provide the huge amounts of electricity it takes to separate hydrogen from water to help power the car. Energy is not free. You're using more gasoline to create hydrogen to try to use less gasoline.

I'd love to see numbers on this that I trust, but those numbers aren't going to come from any colorful websites that claim water is fuel.

Default True. Here is a more realistic view on how it has worked for people.

The colorful website is what initially mailed to me sparking my interest in the topic.<ul><li><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpDtGlL6bCI">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpDtGlL6bCI</a</li></ul>

Default Phil,

My next step (after the move and Headlight) was to get my saturn to run on the power of hho. I have been reading and watching everything I could about this topic. I want to build one.

Default i asked this question over a year ago here didn't get much response

but i think hydrogen would really help timing on our cars both for temps and knock resistance.

i need more info thou. I actually did draw some schematics.
