Default People with experience selling their car on the internet...

What procedure did you go with regarding payment?

Ive heard of a lot of scams with cashiers checks, as well as with personal checks...so how does one safely sell their car?

What sort of deposit did you require?

Thanks for the help! I might have a legit offer on the car after all these months..

Default I did a bank wire transfer and he came to get the car after it cleared.

Bank check also works.

Both times I did the transaction through a dealer (I was buying a car too so I saved on the tax). In both cases, they used a cashiers check.

I required a $1000 deposit up front (wired to me), non-refundable.

Default I am rather leary of supplying my account # to a complete stranger for a wire transfer...

thats where most of the scamming comes from.

Default If you're that weary of the buyer, maybe you shouldn't sell it to him.

My buyer brought me a cashiers check for $35,000, I didn't ask for a deposit upfront.

If someone named Duke Duke offers to send a check for more than the asking price...
