S4 Brochure Incorrect?
The US S4 brochure quoted 0-60 times of 6.5secs
Is this right?
How is it that we get a detuned version of the euro car?
Also, the Audi Driver did not exactly give the S4 a glowing review did it? I read it yesterday and they had some criticism on the gearbox and suspension tuning

Re: S4 Brochure Incorrect?
The Audi US web site now says 5.9. Maybe they listed 6.5 to cover the tip tranny.
I spoke to the guy who did the Car and Driver test, and he said Audi told him the launch procedure, which is described in the text: "Rev to 5000 and dump the clutch", which resulted in the test car do it in 5.6.

Just curious...
...this dumping the clutch business - doesn't sound too good for the car. Especially at 5000rpm.
Is this common practice for getting fast starts at a light? I'm curious enough to try it just to see if I can get all the wheels to spin even a bit. Is that really all there is too it? Gas-dump clutch - hang on!?
As you can probably tell I'm not really into drag racing, I get all my kicks from a quiet winding country/mountain road. New Hampshire's White Mountains has been my favourite spot for years but I will have the opportunity to get on the Blue Ridge highway in West Virginia shortly. Form what I hear it's quite something. Can't wait to get the S4 on it - hope I have the car before it snows.

Wonder what the dealer...
...will think if I tried to do that with the demo car. I mean, it's a valid test right? If they claim the car can do it then they should have no objection to a customer trying it. I bet 80% of the sales people on the ride along will go through the roof though!

0 - 60 mph
I really like the "street start" 5-60 mph that Car and Driver provides. It is a far more meaningful number for car owners who prefer not to engage in tire burning launches, whether to not abuse their vehicle or to avoid attention from Mr. Police Officer. It also takes driver skill and surface conditions out of the equation. Too bad all car mags don't do this.
The S4 appears to have just a bit of turbo lag, based on C and D's numbers, but not enough to be a concern.
