So, I have my keys for my 2000 Sedan. Can the remote part be reprogrammed to work on the 2001 Avant?

I know I won't have the trunk release function, because there ain't no button on the Sedan remote.
What does it take, the dealership to do this?
I'll probably ditch the key part itself.
It'll be nice to have 2 more remotes in addition to the existing 2.

stick it in the key hole with another key in the ignition (on) and either
press the button or turn the key (sorry, don't completely remember that part). I think it is press the button for like a minute or something

Hmm. This is going to be interesting. Since the keyfob is from another car...
So I wonder if the key is going to turn at all in the keyhole; the only way since it definitely is not going to be turning on the car/ignition.
Is it in the manual? Sorry, I don't have it handy.
I'll check my easy to navigate, fast, thorough and wonderfully laid out Bentley.

So do I. A little birdie told me where it showed up...
I doubt whether I can drive off with it though.
I heard it was throwing all sorts of codes and they "repaired" it using some spray paint.
How sad, that an S would wind up living like that. If it was on life support, I'd pull the plug. :-(

there's no electrical link between the remote part and the key part
so you could probably not even have to pull stuff apart. just put your current key into the lock and do the stuff with the old remote.

yeah. i meant turn his current key, but press his old remote. just don't need to
snap them together. i dunno if it will work, but there's not really a need that i see for combining the two.
