Default Travelling to Germany in a few weeks - Audi factory tour on my list of things to do.

Has anyone been there/done that? If so, how long does it take? Are advance reservations necessary, or can I just show up? Does it cost anything? Any other Audi-related sights to check out while over there (we're staying in Munich)? I vaguely recall people saying to check out the museum as well as the factory - are those two places next door to one another? Any value in writing down my VIN and bringing that along (maybe they keep vehicle-specific records or something)?

I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures. I'll be certain to drink a lot of hearty beer. :-p Now if only I were good at quickly learning foreign languages...

Default Go to the museum. Reservations are required for a factory tour.

You might be able to show up and hop on an existing tour, but I would call ahead.

Figure about 4-5 hours for the tour, museum, and gift shop. Its 45-55 minute train ride from Munich.

BMW factory is right near Munich, and most Germans speak English, so don't sweat the language stuff.

Default Audi Of America can actually provide you with info (REALLY!) - 1-800-822-AUDI.

I looked into it when a business trip was supposed to take me there but it unfortunately fell through.

Default most europeans know english but

at least learn how to say thank you, excuse me, and do you speak english in german. Grab a book for the plane and try to learn a few simple phrases as well. They'll be a lot more receptive if you actually try to speak some german than expecting them to know english.
