Turbo Replace vs. Rebuild
#53
LOL, that was great just made my day.....
here is a break down
all you need to know is how much you are willing to spend and if you want more power or reliable.
for reliability: go with k04s(new) inlet pipes if you are cheap cut the pipes(k03s) and use a clamp hose, if you get software(chip) this still will run very well but no full potential.
for power: new k04s, new inlet, injectors and more stuff if you want.
on this case relaiability is cheaper by over $3k.
hope this helps

stick in the K04s with appropriate hardware
ignore this blow-off valve crap, S4KTS was just being a jerk.
K04s with K03 software is VERY reliable, and if your clutch is relatively new and unabused, it should hold fine... just don't go around launching it.
also, if you find you want more power in the future, you've got the big part already done.

where to buy??
What are some companies you guys would recommend buying k04's from...its easy to find the inlet piping and hardware..however finding the turbos at a decent price is a bit tougher

You got it backwards, the inlet piping has been the tough piece to find for a while.
Most place have finally got some stock back in but who knows for how long.
If the turbos are new it doesn't really matter where you get them. At the moment, you are looking at around 2100-2300 for a new set of K04's from most places. The inlet piping has gone up a bit in price recently, most places have it between 450-550 now. You really are not going to find the prices vary far out of these ranges unless you manage to get into a group buy on one of the forums.
Most of the advertisers on this board will all be about the same with their pricing. AWEtuning, PureMS, ECStuning, VASTperformace, to name a few are all fine places to get this stuff from.

Depends on how you drive it.
If you drive it hard and have a lead foot, then yes spend the money for a new RS4 clutch. If you just daily drive it and use the power for passing you will be fine for quite some time.
