Default what causes this vibration when steering wheel is turned all way to one side?

i tried a search on this, but came up empty.
whenever making a U turn or a full turn and steering is all way to one side, i feel some vibration..could it be due to low power steering fluid or ... alignment? ball joints, etc...
TIA

Normal for quattro-equipped A4.

Default Normal, but ...

...that bothers the heck out of me as well.
None of my 2-wheel driving cars ever had that issue.
So I inquired about it with a friend who has a 330xi, but since her all wheel drive is not the same as Quattro, she does not feel the vibration.

One thing I've noticed is that you can play with your tire's pressure, and you can minimize the vibration.
If the tire is under or over inflated, then you feel it more. I think somewhere around 37 or 38 seemed to be the best if I remember correctly.

Default you know, since you said that it also happens with my wifes' ML320 ....

and someone said, u first check out the ball joints and cv's and whatever is down there and thereafter you do the alignment, but, alignment first is useless...
i'll check the tire pressure..
thanks dudes.

Default Warning...do NOT keep it turned at full turn for very long

You can burn up your power steering pump by doing so. That is not something you want to experiment with...

You may have a loose nut behind the wheel.

The power steering pump is centrifugal boost type pump so it will be unaffected by turning the wheel

Default All I know is that the Audi Tech trainer I know told me not to keep the wheel at full turn for....

For more than 10 seconds...I think it prevents fluid from flowing, somehow, and the pump will run with less and less fluid...finally crapping out. Like those technical terms? :-)

Default I don't doubt that the tech told you this, here is how in easy terms

a centrifugal pump works. The inside of the pump has a mechanism that spins and as it reaches a certain pressure (turning the wheel all the way to stop) and then continues to spin but does not over pressurize the system. The sound you hear is the fluid circulating around inside the pump. The pump stays lubricated, but I guess you could argue that the fluid could over heat causing it to freeze up, but I would have to guess that it would take a while to do so.
