Default X-Post from VAG Forum..Extinguishing the Pad Wear Sensor light after BBK- - >

I have a B5 S4 with a brembo Big Brake Kit...no pad wear sensors in the pads.

I have the wires for the Pad Wear Sensors jumped, but the connection must be weak...the light comes on every so often.

I understand this to be the proper procedure for coding the light off using VAG...

<b>A: [Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
Enter 5-digit code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the first two digits in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.

00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active (may only work with pre-2000 models)
+16 - Navigation System (non-USA models)</b>

The first two digits were 02. I recoded 03, but that didn't work.

Did I do it wrong? Is it actually possible?

Default I believe someone a few threads down mentioned you have the pad indicator off already before you...

can recode it. I too am having a similar issue with mine, I believe the connection or something is just enough off that in some turns the indicator pops on.

Apparently the process is to have teh sensor off, recde it, then it should be disabled from then on out. I have tried recoding based on that example during the pariod I had no wear indicator, yet it STILL came back on. (year 2000 A-box if it matters to those reading)

Also, using 03 means you have both seatbelt AND brake indicator sensors, you need either 02 or 00. Again, it failed to work for me.

i agree, much easier. but then again, it would be nice if someone figured it out through VAG.

Default Just put a jumper in the connector. That's what I did...

Take's up alot less space than leaving on the 2nd part of the connector and soldering wires. I haven't had my Brake Wear Indicator since I did this (almost 50K miles ago).

Default

What did you use as a jumper? I recently tried a slid core wire with no luck.

Default IIRC- 18 gauge solid wire. Need to make sure that it is long enough and in right connector holes.

It might have been 16 gauge, don't remember.

Default I crimp connectored them- ->

It was fine until the drivers side hard line split and I lot my brakes.

The line was replaced and a few days later the light came on.

I even did a full court re-crimp with ratcheting crimpers and it still comes on.

I'll just solder it.
